Arts for Kids in Kingsport, TNWhen kids are invested in the arts, they have more opportunities to express their creativity and may do better in school. However, with budget deficits in public schools, arts programs in schools are being reduced. Here are some ways to get your kids involved in the arts outside of school.

Brushstrokes n’ More

If you’d rather not commit to a formal class, consider exposing your kids to a painting studio such as Brushstrokes n’ More. They can paint on canvases or ceramics, or make board art. They can even make jewelry or glass crafts. You can go during an open painting session, take a class, or host a kids’ birthday party at the studio. Kids can have the opportunity to explore painting without having the supplies at home. This means less cost and mess.

During teen theatre camp for seventh graders to 12th graders, teens learn about auditions, monologues, stage lighting, stage combat, improvisation skills, stage makeup, directing, and stage management. The teen camp also features a show that takes place at the end of camp.
