Best Campgrounds Near Kingsport

Kingsport, Tennessee, offers plenty of lovely natural scenery and exciting attractions to explore. If you’re interested in getting out to enjoy the great outdoors around Kingsport, consider staying at one of these top campgrounds in the area.

Woodsmoke Campground

Located south of Kingsport, in Unicoi, Tennessee, and nestled in the Cherokee National Forest, Woodsmoke Campground offers a peaceful and relaxing escape. The campground has both tent sites and RV sites that provide plenty of shade and privacy. It also provides a variety of amenities to make your stay even better, such as full-hookups, level sites, free Wi-Fi, and a large bathhouse. David Crockett Birthplace State Park

David Crockett Birthplace State Park is another great place for camping that’s located south of Kingsport. Of the 88 sites in the park, 54 have full-hookups, 17 have water and electricity hookups, and 17 are primitive tent sites with no hookups. During your stay, you can take advantage of everything the park offers, including a public swimming pool, miles of hiking trails, and numerous opportunities for fishing and kayaking on the Nolichucky River. Warriors’ Path State Park

Warriors’ Path State Park is situated about six miles outside of Kingsport. The park has a total of 134 campsites. Of that total, 94 sites have water and electric hookups, and 40 sites are located in the overflow campground. Every site comes with a picnic table and grill. While you’re staying in the park, you can play a few games at the challenging 22-hole disc golf course. The park also has an 18-hole golf course, 12 miles of hiking trails, an Olympic-size pool and children’s wading pool and canoe, kayak, paddleboard, and pedal boat rentals at the marina.

Natural Tunnel State Park

If you travel a few miles north of Kingsport to Duffield, Virginia, you’ll discover Natural Tunnel State Park. The park has a number of unique options for camping, including cabins, yurts, and two campgrounds. Cove View Campground has 16 sites with water and electricity hookups, and Lover’s Leap Campground has 18 sites with water and electricity hookups. When you stay at the park’s campground, you’ll be able to view the massive naturally formed cave that’s so large it’s used as a railroad tunnel.
