Condensation inside your vehicle's headlights can lead to short circuits, premature bulb failure, mold, and other problems. It can also keep your lights from working properly, making driving at night difficult and dangerous. If you notice condensation often, it could be a sign that the seals or gaskets protecting the inside of your headlights from moisture are compromised. Here are some tips on how to remove or prevent condensation in your headlights. more Avoid Parking in Cool, Damp Areas You can prevent condensation inside your headlights by parking in areas with low moisture levels. Avoid shady spots near lakes or rivers, underground parking garages, and other areas with high humidity. If you have a garage, you can use a portable dehumidifier to keep moisture levels down inside the garage. Because condensation forms on cool surfaces from water vapor in the air, keeping water levels low can help you make sure your headlights stay in good condition. Turn Your Headlights On for a While Turning on your headlights for several minutes should warm up the lenses over the bulbs enough to get rid of condensation. If you don't feel like waiting, you can heat your headlights with a hair dryer. Check Your Headlight Vents Most headlights have small vents to keep condensation from building up inside them, and a blocked vent could lead to excess moisture. Check your lights for dead leaves, spider webs, dirt, dust, and other types of debris. If anything is blocking the vents, wipe them carefully with a damp cloth, or use compressed air to blow away blockages. If anything has fallen into the headlight housing, you'll need to take it apart to remove the debris. Insert a Silica Gel Pack If condensation keeps reappearing in your headlights, you'll need to open them and dry the insides with a lint-free cloth. Then, place silica gel packs at the bottoms of the lights to keep condensation from collecting in the future. You can find gel packs in hardware stores and arts and crafts stores. Check your vehicle's owner's manual to find out how to open your headlights, and make sure the gel packs aren't touching the bulbs. With most vehicles, you'll need to open the hood and remove the backs of the headlight assemblies or unscrew the bulbs. Replace Gaskets and Seals Adding a silica gel pack to your headlight is only a temporary solution, and it will eventually stop absorbing water. To keep condensation from coming back for good, you'll need to have the seals or gaskets around your headlight replaced to prevent excess moisture from getting inside. They have a great deal to offer adventurous nature lovers. more Warrior's Path State Park Warrior's Path State Park is a 950-acre park that sits along an old Native American trading path. It is located along the shore of the Patrick Henry Reservoir on the Holston River at 490 Hemlock Road in Kingsport. The park boasts an 18-hole regulation golf course, 134 campsites with tables, grills, and water and electric hookups, and five picnic pavilions capable of accommodating 100 to 160 people each. The pavilions must be reserved by calling the park office and paying a small reservation fee. Large lodge rentals are available for corporate meetings or other large-scale events. They are equipped with bathrooms and fountains but have no kitchen facilities. All buildings at the park are ADA accessible. Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium For a combination of natural beauty and celestial wonder, head over to Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium at 853 Bays Mountain Park Road in Kingsport. There you'll find a pristine 3,500-acre nature preserve, a 44-acre lake, a planetarium theater, a nature center, and a multitude of animal habitats. The primary residents of the animal habitats at the park include wolves, bobcats, red foxes, falcons, hawks, owls, rattlesnakes, many species of amphibians, white-tail deer, river otters, turtles, and many fish species. Wildlife observation is best achieved through a guided barge ride tour, available each weekday at 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at 1, 2, and 5 p.m. Primitive camping areas are available for scout groups and other recognized organizations. Fishing is permitted for people 55 and older or teens and children under 16 years of age. Proof of age is required, and everyone 12-15 years of age must have a youth fishing license. The most common fish found in the park are bluegill, bass, and channel catfish. Borden Park If you prefer a more organized park that is packed with fun activities to enjoy, head over to Borden Park at 901 Lamont Street in Kingsport. This smaller 17-acre park includes an arboretum, barbecue grills, an asphalt basketball court, a community building, horseshoe pits, an 18-hole golf course, seven picnic shelters, many different playgrounds, half a dozen well-lit tennis courts, a long paved walking trail, and an event area. The park is pet friendly, has a disc golf course, and is handicap accessible thanks to generous aid from the Kingsport Rotary Club. Their Pro Shop contains name-brand clothing and equipment sure to please even the most discerning of golfers. Tee times can be booked online through their website, and golf carts are available to all players over the age of 15. Warrior's Path Golf Trail This beautiful 18-hole public golf course is situated on the shore of Fort Patrick Henry Lake in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. It is just one part of the massive Warrior's Path State Park, which is 950 acres in size and features rivers, forests, hiking trails, campgrounds, and much more. The course is located at 1687 Fall Creek Road in Kingsport, and it is a par 72 course. Warrior's Path features a large practice area for everyone from beginners to experts to enjoy. It features a driving range, a practice green, a practice bunker, and a snack bar. Lessons are available to all golfers, and tee times are required in advance seven days a week. The state park this course rests in offers RV parking, so if you've traveled a long distance in one to get there you won't have to stay outside of the park.
