Arcadia Originally named Reedy Creek Settlement, Arcadia is an entire community in Sullivan County that resides just outside Kingsport. It was originally founded in the late 1700s and the entire town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Of particular interest here is the Thomas Fain Plantation, which originally bore the Arcadia name that the town is now known by. Bristol Municipal Stadium Don't let anyone tell you there aren't castles in the United States. Built in 1934-1936, the Bristol Municipal Stadium was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. It's designed to look just like an ancient stone castle, and it was part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal project to help with the aftermath of the Great Depression. Bristol Commercial Historic District Who said you can't enjoy historic sites while still getting some shopping done? The commercial historic district of Bristol, just a few miles from Kingsport, features 83 different buildings, all of which feature thriving businesses enclosed within historic buildings dating to the Victorian era and the early 20th century. First added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, it was expanded in 2017. Sites to note here include buildings for the YMCA, Reynolds Arcade, the Cameo Theater, McCrory's Department Store, the Paramount Theatre and Office Building, First National Bank of Bristol, the E.W. King Manufacturing Company, and a wealth of other buildings representing the early years of the 20th century. When the Toyota Prius entered the market 20 years ago, this vehicle appealed to drivers who wanted to lower their carbon footprint. Over the years, vehicle buyers have purchased more than 2 million models in the United States. As one of the most efficient hybrid vehicles on the market, the 2021 Toyota Prius delivers a smooth ride, comfortable seating, and impressive cargo space. This vehicle also comes standard with an abundance of safety and infotainment features. New Trim To commemorate the vehicle's 20th anniversary, Toyota has introduced a limited-run 2020 Edition. Only 2,020 of these special anniversary trim models have been produced. The Toyota Prius has five available trims for 2021, in addition to the special edition, which include the L Eco, LE, XLE, and Limited. The new 2020 Edition is based on the XLE trim, which includes synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, and wireless device charging. You'll also appreciate the 17-inch wheels. Two bold colors, Supersonic Red and Wind Chill Pearl, set the special anniversary trim apart from the XLE trim. The 2020 Edition trim also has a sportier appearance along with its black exterior highlights and an enhanced rear spoiler. Updated Technology For the 2021 models, Toyota has added Android Auto in all trims except for the top-of-the-line Limited trim. This feature comes with the infotainment system along with a 7-inch touch-screen display, Bluetooth, three USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa. The Limited trim includes all the same features paired with an 11.6-inch touch-screen display. However, the larger screen is not compatible with Android Auto. Impressive Fuel Economy A 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor power the 2021 Toyota Prius. These engines combined produce 121 horsepower. The base L Eco trim attains 58 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the highway. These numbers are some of the best achieved by hybrid and electric vehicles. The remaining trims offer front-wheel drive that yields 54 mpg in the city and 50 mpg on the highway, while the all-wheel-drive LE and XLE trims get 51 mpg in the city and 47 mpg on the highway. Expansive Cargo Area The 2021 Toyota Prius features one of the largest cargo capacities compared to other vehicles in its class. Behind the rear seats, you have 27.4 cubic feet of space. The LE trims and those with all-wheel drive lower these numbers slightly to 24.6 cubic feet. When you fold down the seats, you gain 50.7 cubic feet of space. Additional Safety Features To keep you and your passengers safe, the 2021 Toyota Prius includes more standard safety features in its Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite. Two new features include road-sign detection, which displays certain signs on your dashboard screen, and bicyclist detection, which alerts you to a bicyclist in the road and applies the brakes if necessary. Roller skating around a rink offers a freeing feeling. You can listen to upbeat music and laugh with your friends and family. Whether you're a novice roller skater or someone who can regularly do tricks, you need a solid wood floor to perform your maneuvers. Bristol Skateway Recently remodeled, the Bristol Skateway has a brand-new wood floor ready for you to skate on while listening to some of today's top songs. This Bristol-area rink also offers group and private lessons if you're interested in learning how to skate. The price for lessons includes admission, skate rental, 45 minutes of instruction, and 1 1/2 hours of public skating afterward. The rink also allows you to host private parties. On Monday and Thursday evenings for 1 1/2 hours, you can participate in SkateFit, a fitness workout program that allows you to get in a quality workout on and off skates. It's geared for people ages 16 and older, although children ages 12 through 15 can participate with a parent or guardian. Other special events include Christian Music Night, which occurs the first Monday of each month, and Family Deal on Sundays, which includes admission for four people, four skate rentals, four slices of pizza, and four beverages for $25. Johnson City Family Skating Center Located in nearby Johnson City, the Johnson City Family Skating Center has a large skating area for you to enjoy. The rink holds events daily, including open skating, day skating, and family-night skating. Check the calendar for event updates. Keep in mind that everyone younger than age 18 must pay admission, whether or not they skate. However, nonskating adults who enter with a paying child can enter for free. The rink is closed on Mondays and Wednesdays. Although you cannot bring in any outside food or drinks into the facility, you can opt to host a party at the rink. At these parties, which include renting the facility for a private party or holding it during normal business hours, you can enjoy pizza, cake, ice cream, chips, and beverages. Twi-Lite Roller Skating Rink Located in Morristown, Twi-Lite Roller Skating Rink has been in business since 1984 and is open throughout the year. The spacious rink is ideal for in-line and roller skating. You can host a private party at the rink and celebrate with all your friends and family. The rink is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. Although roller-skating rinks used to be more popular several decades ago, plenty of facilities remain open for business.
