Located in Pal's Roundhouse on Clinchfield Street, the Kingsport Carousel is a fully restored Allen Herschell carousel originally built in 1956. The renovation was a labor of love carried out by a group of passionate volunteers. The carousel's decoration includes scenes from Kingsport's history, 24 paintings of local birds, and 24 clown faces. The historic ride features 32 hand-carved riding animals, two chariots, and 24 carved sweep animals, including raccoons, a skunk, and several birds. Pride of place goes to a flying pig that represents the group's original hopes of completing the project. The carousel is open Wednesday through Sunday and only costs a dollar a ride. Centennial Park Located on East Main Street close to the train depot, Centennial Park was created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Kingsport. The Toyota Camry is one of the most popular sedans on the market, and it is still a top seller, even with many consumers turning toward crossovers and SUVs. Toyota gave the Camry a complete redesign several years ago, and for 2021, the manufacturer gives it some significant updates to keep it fresh. Here is a look at what's new and what stayed the same with the 2021 Toyota Camry. The Exterior On the outside, the 2021 has several updates to create a better distinction between the LE and XLE trims and the sportier SE and XSE. The LE, which is now the entry-level model since Toyota removed the L from the lineup, receives new 17-inch wheels, and to keep up, the XLE receives new 18-inch wheels. The front bumper for both of these trims also has a new look. Toyota updated the SE and XSE trims for 2021 with a new honeycomb grille and some changes to the look of the front bumper. The Trim Levels There are a few changes to the lineup for the 2021 model year. The L is no longer available, making the LE the entry-level trim. Toyota brought back the Camry Hybrid this year, and since the XSE is a popular trim level, they added a new XSE hybrid. Warriors' Path State Park Warriors' Path State Park has hiking and biking trails for visitors to explore while taking in the fall foliage. The Doe River runs through the park with lots of trout fishing available, and if you want to stay at the park, you can camp or rent a mountainside cabin. The system provides audio and visual alerts when it determines the possibility of a frontal collision and will provide braking assistance if needed. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control Dynamic radar cruise control also uses the grille-mounted radar system and a forward-facing camera to detect vehicles in front of the car. It will adjust the vehicle's speed as needed to maintain a set distance from other cars, allowing the driver to keep a constant speed on the highway without throttle input. It will also automatically slow the vehicle to keep it from getting too close to other cars. If the system detects that the vehicle needs to slow down even more to avoid a collision, it will provide audio and visual alerts and apply the brakes. Lane Departure Alert Toyota's lane departure alert system helps drivers stay in their lane when traveling on straight roads with clear lane markings and curbs. If the system detects the vehicle moving out of the marked lane, it will alert the driver using both audio and visual indicators. Drivers can then check their surroundings and move the vehicle back into the lane. If the driver does not take corrective action, vehicles equipped with electronic power steering will provide steering assist by making small, corrective steering inputs. The Safety Sense 2.0 system also includes Road Edge Detection, which can sense the boundary between the side and surface of the road. Automatic High-Beam Headlights Automatic high beams help the driver see the road more clearly at night. When driving above 25 mph, it detects the headlights of oncoming vehicles and the taillights of cars ahead, then automatically toggles back and forth between high and low beams to avoid blinding other drivers. The automated system allows drivers to use their high beams more frequently for a better view of the road and potential obstacles when it's dark. Road Sign Assist The road sign assist system uses a forward-facing intelligent camera to read certain road and traffic signs and displays them on the information display for the driver. It can detect speed limit signs, stop signs, and more and prevents drivers from overlooking important traffic indicators.
