5 Fantastic Ice Cream Places in and Around Kingsport, TN

Kingsport, TN is a lovely town in eastern Tennessee that is known for its stunning scenery, friendly atmosphere, and beautiful streets. If you’re going to be in Kingsport in the middle of summer, you may find that you need something cold while you’re walking around town to help beat the heat – but don’t worry we’ve got you covered! Here are some of our favorite ice cream shops around town.

Dairy Cup of Mount Carmel

Dairy Cup is a great little spot to get lunch, as they serve delicious hot dogs, corn dogs, and hamburgers. The frozen treats are the real star of the menu though. Locals have been coming back here for many years for the hand-dipped cones and milkshakes which are super creamy and delicious. The shop has a cute red and blue exterior and is conveniently located just off of Main Street.

Brain Freeze

Brain Freeze is the best spot in town to get shaved ice and is a favorite with local kids. This tiny shack serves an impressively long list of flavor options, including some creative kid-friendly flavors like “Captain America” and “Hello Kitty.” The employees are always very friendly and great with the kids, even when they have a hard time deciding what they want!

Mona Lisa Gelato & Cafe

Mona Lisa serves gourmet-style gelato at very reasonable prices – you’ll always be impressed by the quality here. The flavors are constantly rotating, and if you can’t decide which one you want the employees will let you try samples, although we personally recommend the Cherry Garcia. If you want something more substantial to go with your dessert, this is also a great place to get lunch, and their paninis are especially delicious.

Sweet Spoon Frozen Treats

Sweet Spoon is an adorable little shop decorated in bright, fun colors which is hidden away in Fort Henry Mall. This is a great place to stop when you’re tired of shopping for some delicious frozen yogurt or a twister in lots of different flavors. Kids will love all the different toppings they can put on their treats, and if you bring in your little ones on Mondays you’ll get 10% off your whole order!

Sloopy’s Diner

Sloopy’s is a classic diner serving all the usual fare – sandwiches, burgers, fries, and of course amazing frozen treats. They serve particularly good milkshakes which we would recommend ordering, and there’s a good variety of flavors available. The owners are super friendly and are always happy to chat for a while as you order.
