Bike Trails Near Kingsport, TN - Toyota of Kingsport

The state of Tennessee has no shortage of beautiful parks and gorgeous mountains. The city of Kingsport, nestled in the northeast corner of the state, is surrounded by national forests and nature preserves, making it the perfect location for bike enthusiasts. We have compiled a list of our favorite bike paths and trails in the Kingsport, TN area to help you decide on your next adventure.

Kingsport Greenbelt

This mostly paved trail cuts through the city of Kingsport and follows the Holston River for 8 miles. There are over twenty historical landmarks to see along the way, including an old campsite used by the first settlers of Tennessee back in the 1700s. You also pass the site of the Battle of Kingsport, a Civil War conflict that took place in 1864 on the eastern bank of the river.

There are multiple parking lots along the trail so you can join the pathway at whichever point is most convenient to you. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the trail and spend the afternoon enjoying beautiful views and learning about the history of Kingsport.

Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium

Bays Mountain is the largest city-owned park in the entire state of Tennessee. Along with pristine biking and walking trails, it also has various animal habitats, a huge lake, an adventure course, a planetarium, and a nature center.

There are 32 miles of bike trails in the park, with varying levels of difficulty. Stretching over 3500 acres, this nature preserve has something for everyone in your group to enjoy.

Warrior’s Path State Park

Just down the road from Kingsport is one of many state parks in the area. Warrior’s Path is unique because its mountain bike path is designated as a National Recreation Trail. The trail stretches 12.5 miles and is an intermediate-level difficulty.

There is also a short paved path that loops around Duck Island that is ideal for beginner cyclists or a more leisurely bike ride. The state park is completely free to enter and has numerous activities to enjoy after an afternoon spent biking.

Tannery Knobs Mountain Bike Park

Tannery Knobs is a great place for mountain bike enthusiasts. It has eight different trails exclusively for mountain bikers, ranging from Green (easy) to Black Diamond (very hard) difficulty levels.

Tannery Knobs has other trails meant for hiking and running, so bikers will have these courses all to themselves. We definitely recommend this park in order to test your skill level and improve your endurance on the trails.
