Paint It Black: All About Toyota Nightshade Editions

For drivers seeking unique styling on their vehicle, the Toyota Nightshade Editions will impress. This package adds a darker appearance and black elements to various Toyota models. Most trims come in the Midnight Black Metallic exterior color plus two or more other paint options. Each vehicle is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of driver’s aids. 

The Nightshade Edition is currently available on these 2021 models: 4Runner, C-HR, Tacoma, and Tundra. It’s also available on the following 2022 models: Avalon Hybrid, Camry, Corolla and Corolla Hatchback, Prius, and Sequoia. Here’s a look at some of our favorites.

2022 Toyota Prius

The 2022 Prius is the latest model and first Toyota hybrid to join the Nightshade Edition lineup. Exterior color options include Super White and Silver Metallica color options. Blacked-out elements on this model include 15-inch or 17-inch wheels, depending on the drivetrain type, door handles, exterior mirror caps, and headlight accents. Inside, black SofTex-trimmed seats compliment the styling.

The 2022 Prius is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that’s coupled with two electric motors for a net output of 121 horsepower. Standard infotainment equipment includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a six-speaker JBL sound system, and a wireless charger.

2022 Toyota Camry

The Nightshade Edition is available on the SE and SE Hybrid trims of the 2022 Toyota Camry. Exterior colors include Super White and Celestial Silver Metallic. This midsize sedan features 18-inch black alloy wheels and other black exterior elements including the window trim, exterior door handles, mirror caps, and rear spoiler. 

The Camry Nightshade Edition draws power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes up to 203 horsepower. The available hybrid setup puts out 176 horsepower.

2021 Tacoma

If a truck is more your style, check out the 2021 Tacoma. The Nightshade Edition comes on the Limited trim. Each vehicle in this trim rides on 20-inch dark-smoke alloy wheels. The Tacoma features standard Nightshade Edition elements such as exterior mirror caps and door handles. A dark chrome grille accents the front of the truck and black badging with Tacoma letter inserts complete the look. 

The Tacoma is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque.

2022 Toyota Sequoia

The Nightshade Edition adds black 20-inch split-spoke alloy wheels to the 2022 Sequoia. Black exterior accents on this large SUV include the outside mirror caps, exterior door handles, integrated LED lights with darkened chrome surround, and the lower bumpers. Exterior paint colors available include Blizzard Pearl and Magnetic Gray Metallic. Black Toyota badging and emblems set this trim apart. 

A 5.7-liter V-8 engine supplies 381 horsepower to this SUV. On the inside, black leather-trimmed seats add a unique style.

2021 Toyota C-HR

If you’re more comfortable in small cars, you can enjoy the unique style of the Nightshade Edition in the 2021 C-HR. This extra small crossover comes in four exterior colors, including three two-tone options that come with a black roof: Magnetic Gray Metallic, Blizzard Pearl, and Supersonic Red. Standard wheels are 18-inch vortex-styled sport-alloy with black lug nuts. Black exterior badges are also standard, along with black door handles and chin spoiler. 

The C-HR Nightshade edition features an all-black interior with gunmetal trim. Power for this model comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 144 horsepower.
