The 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander is a comfortable and capable mid-size SUV, with plenty of space inside for people and cargo. Shoppers can choose from the entry-level XLE, equipped with lots of tech and comfort features, the Limited with even more luxury amenities, and the Platinum with advanced driver assistance and tech.

1. XLE

With impressive features like 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and SofTex-trimmed seats, the XLE is the Grand Highlander’s entry-level trim. It has a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine that tows up to 5,000 lbs. and puts out 265 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available for better traction in challenging conditions. Its cabin seats seven with second-row captain’s chairs, or you can choose a second-row bench for eight-passenger seating.

The XLE keeps its passengers comfortable with heated front seats, three-zone auto climate control, and second-row retractable window sunshades. Its standard 12.3-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen controls the 6-speaker audio system and integrates with compatible smartphones using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also standard on the XLE is a long list of driver assistance features, including a Blind Spot Monitor that can help drivers make safer lane changes.

2. Limited

The Limited treats passengers to a luxurious cabin, with leather-trimmed seats, ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, and ambient interior lighting. Its driver’s seat includes a memory function that can remember and restore your seating position after it’s been adjusted by another driver. The Limited also has convenience features like rain-sensing windshield wipers and a foot-activated power liftgate that provides hands-free access to the cargo area.

Other exciting Limited upgrades include 20-inch alloy wheels, an 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio system, and power-folding outside mirrors. To make parking even easier, this model also comes with Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking, which can warn you and apply the brakes when it detects a nearby object.

3. Platinum

The Platinum is available only with second-row captain’s chairs and all-wheel drive, which also comes with Multi-Terrain Select to customize traction with modes like MUD & SAND or ROCK & DIRT. It also has Downhill Assist Control to help you maintain a low speed on a steep decline, so you can focus on steering.

The Platinum’s cabin gets upgrades like a power panoramic roof and ventilated second-row seats. It also comes with several driver assistance features, including a Head-Up Display that can project speed and navigation information onto the windshield.
