Trim Levels (Exterior)
The new 2023 Toyota Venza is available in a choice of four trim levels. The base trim is the LE, which is followed by the midrange XLE. The Nightshade Edition is a special version of the XLE, while the Limited is the range-topping trim level with all the bells and whistles. Exterior features include LED headlights and heated power side mirrors. The Nightshade Edition gives you special sleek, blacked-out exterior trim touches and black wheels. For other trim levels, the available exterior colors include Ruby Flare Pearl, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Black, Coastal Gray Metallic, Blueprint, Titanium Glow, and Black.
Engine (Power)
The only powertrain available on the new Venza is the hybrid. This engine consists of a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that is mated to three electric motors. These combine to produce 219 horsepower, an impressive number for a two-row midsize crossover SUV with a hybrid powertrain. The engine and motors are mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) to provide seamless gear shifting. The Venza generates enough punch that if it weren't for the vehicle's fuel economy, you probably wouldn't realize you were driving a hybrid.
Performance
The latest Venza comes with standard all-wheel drive at every trim level. Two of the electric motors drive the front wheels, while the third drives the back wheels. The AWD system uses electronic on-demand functionality that engages when needed, while the CVT offers butter-smooth shifting. In real-world testing, the Venza accelerated in line with other vehicles in its class, and it offers a smooth, stable ride with reliable steering and authoritative braking. It nets an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 40 miles per gallon city and 37 miles per gallon highway.
Interior
The cabin design is extremely roomy with plenty of space for passengers and gear. You also get high-quality materials and an intuitive layout and design. One impressive feature is the ability to black out the glass panels on the sunroof; just by flicking a switch, they go from clear to completely opaque. The infotainment system is run by an 8.0-inch touchscreen featuring satellite radio, integration for Amazon, Android, and Apple devices, and a Wi-Fi hotspot with connected services. Available upgraded features include simulated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated seats, and a premium nine-speaker JBL sound system.
Safety Features
Every Venza comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ system. This includes adaptive cruise control to keep a safe distance from the car in front of you, frontal crash warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane-departure and lane-keeping functionality, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts. At the XLE level, you get parking sensors in the front and back as well as automatic braking in the rear. The Limited trim tops it off with a digital rearview mirror, a top-down 360-degree parking system, and a head-up display
