2023 Toyota Tacoma
The Toyota Tacoma is the ultimate midsize pickup truck. Toyota offers it with a choice of engines, and it is one of the few pickup trucks you can get with a manual transmission. For the 2023 model year, the Tacoma gets two new appearance packages for the SR5, and it also gets the Smart Key and a power-adjustable driver's seat when equipped with the V-6 engine. The Limited also gets the power-adjustable driver's seat and an 8-inch touch screen. Here's a look at some of the details for the 2023 Toyota Tacoma.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Tacoma SR comes with 16-inch steel wheels, power-adjustable and heated side exterior mirrors, a composite bed, and movable bed cleats. Stepping up to the SR5 gets you alloy wheels and chrome exterior trim, while the TRD Sport comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a hood scoop, and a sport-tuned suspension. The TRD Off-Road has 16-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, and a chrome rear bumper, and if you bump up to the Limited, it has 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a silver grille, and a sunroof.
The TRD Pro has 16-inch black painted TRD wheels, all-terrain tires, an off-road suspension, LED headlights, and a hood scoop. It also has an upgraded exhaust, a heritage-style grille, and Fox shocks.
Engine (Power)
The SR and SR5 have a 2.7-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 159 horsepower. A 3.5-liter V-6 with 278 horsepower is optional for these models and comes standard with the rest of the lineup. Most trims come with a six-speed automatic, but some offer a six-speed manual.
Performance
The V-6 engine is the better choice for those who plan on using this truck for towing. This truck is easy to handle and maneuver whether you plan on staying in town or taking it over rough back roads. The TRD Pro and TRD Off-Road have the extra equipment needed for tackling rough terrain.
Interior
There is room for up to five people in the larger Tacoma cab. A step up from the base to the SR5 gets you a power-adjustable driver's seat and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the higher-end Limited has leather upholstery.
A 7-inch touchscreen comes in the base trim along with three USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The SR5 adds an 8-inch touch screen, and the TRD Sport has a 120-volt outlet in the bed. Depending on the trim, you can get an upgraded JBL stereo system, navigation, and a Multi-Terrain monitor.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Tacoma has a rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The SR5 offers the Technology Package with a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, while the TRD Sport's Technology package also adds rear parking sensors.
Add the Advanced Technology Package for a 360-degree surround-view camera, or choose the Limited, where this comes standard, along with the rear parking sensors and a blind-spot monitor. You'll also get all these safety systems as standard equipment with the TRD Pro.
