Since Toyota discontinued the Land Cruiser, the Sequoia is now the manufacturer's largest SUV. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Toyota Sequoia is available in six trims: SR5, TRD Sport, Limited, Nightshade Edition, TRD Pro, and Platinum. To keep the vehicle contemporary, Toyota added LED exterior lighting. The base trim includes black running boards and a silver roof rack, while the Nightshade Edition adds black and chrome touches. The TRD Pro features black 18-inch alloy wheels. To help you easily load and unload cargo, trims beginning at the Limited level include a power tailgate. A new exterior paint color called Wind Chill Pearl replaces both Blizzard Pearl and Super White.
Engine (Power)
All 2022 Sequoia vehicles have the same powerful engine, which allows you to easily pass traffic on the highway or accelerate from a stop. This 5.7-liter V-8 engine produces 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque and comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but every trim except the TRD Pro offers four-wheel drive as an option. The TRD Pro comes standard with this feature.
Performance
Even though it's not billed as an off-road SUV, the 2022 Sequoia is capable of off-roading. The TRD Pro trim is the most powerful offering in the lineup. This four-wheel-drive model includes upgrades such as FOX shocks and a TRD skid plate. All four-wheel-drive models also include a two-speed transfer case and a center locking differential. The SUV also has a maximum ride height of 10 inches, the top of its class. When properly equipped, the Sequoia has a maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds.
Interior
Depending on the configuration, up to eight people can ride comfortably in the 2022 Toyota Sequoia. The front seats are extremely supportive, and tall riders will appreciate the ample headroom and legroom available in any row. For cargo capacity, the Sequoia has 18.9 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats. Those seats fold flat, giving an impressive 66.6 cubic feet of space to store larger items. Folding down both the second- and third-row seats offer 120.1 cubic feet of space.
To keep everyone connected, the Sequoia comes standard with a Wi-Fi hot spot and three USB ports. The driver can easily operate the infotainment system via a 7-inch touch-screen display. It includes Amazon Alexa, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. Other standard features include voice recognition and satellite radio. Available upgrades include a rear-seat entertainment system and navigation.
Safety Features
Every 2022 Sequoia is outfitted with an abundance of safety features. Some of these features include blind-spot monitoring, automatic high-beam headlights, forward automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. It also includes trailer sway control, which comes in handy when towing.
