As the last iteration of the Avalon, the 2022 model provides plenty of bang for your buck. Apart from a quiet and spacious cabin, the 2022 Toyota Avalon offers plenty of premium standard features and a comfortable ride.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
You can choose from four trim levels with the Avalon: the XLE, XSE Nightshade, Touring, and Limited. The XSE Nightshade is available exclusively as a hybrid model, while a hybrid version is also offered on the XLE and Limited trims. The base trim is impressively well-equipped with LED reflector headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and heated and power-adjustable mirrors with turn-signal and blind-spot indicators. You also receive 17-inch alloy wheels and an acoustic noise-reducing windshield.
With the XSE Nightshade hybrid trim, you can expect Gloss Black features, such as a Gloss Black grille, rear spoiler, and window trim, as well as a power tilt/slide moonroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a single hidden exhaust. The Touring trim adds adaptive cornering lights, LED taillights with dynamic turn signals, side mirrors with memory, a driver-side auto-dimming mirror, an intake sound generator, and a sport sound-tuned exhaust. With the Limited trim, you receive a dual exhaust with chrome tips and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Engine (Power)
Two powertrains are offered with the Avalon. The standard engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 that pairs with an eight-speed automatic and produces 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. If you opt for a hybrid model, your Avalon will be powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that's mated to a continuously variable transmission and two electric motors to provide a net output of 215 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels.
Performance
With its tangential vents on the side of the front bumper and available rear spoiler and diffuser, the Avalon is able to deliver above-average fuel efficiency and also reduced vehicle noise. For maximum handling, opt for the Touring trim, which is equipped with an adaptive variable suspension system. The trim also provides a Sport Mode with a higher damping force, which will ensure that your Avalon remains stable on the road.
Interior
The Avalon's cabin is fitted with quality materials. It is also comfortable, well-equipped, and spacious. Roomy seating for up to five passengers is provided, while the cavernous cargo area offers 16 cubic feet of space. The easy-to-use 9-inch infotainment system comes with eight speakers, a Wi-Fi hot sport, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. You can upgrade with available features such as a 14-speaker JBL sound system, wireless device charging, and an integrated navigation system.
The base trim is equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control, SofTex upholstery, heated front seats, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Higher trims add various levels of luxury with features such as ventilated front seats, premium leather upholstery, heated rear seats, a heated and leather steering wheel with memory, and a head-up display.
Safety Features
All Avalon trims come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite, which consists of a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with steering assist, road sign assist, lane-tracing assist, and full speed range dynamic radar cruise control. A blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert also comes standard.
