2021 Toyota RAV4
The Toyota RAV4 has a model for everyone. Whether you need it to run errands around town, commute to and from work, or you need a crossover that will take you on weekend adventures, you'll find it in the RAV4. The 2021 model features remain the same as the previous year, but there's a new plug-in hybrid added to the lineup.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are many different RAV4s to choose from. The base is the LE and comes with LED headlights, 17-inch steel wheels, roof rails, and rear privacy glass. The XLE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, and heated exterior side mirrors, and the XLE Premium has 19-inch alloy wheels and a power moonroof. Take a ride in the Adventure, and you'll get taller roof rails and fender flares, or choose the TRD Off-Road for all-terrain tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, and black exterior trim elements.
The high-end Limited adds chrome exterior trim elements and puddle lights to the lower trims' features.
Engine (Power)
The gas-powered RAV4 has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower. It works with Toyota's eight-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available as an option for every trim level except the Adventure and the TRD Off-Road, where it comes standard.
Performance
The engine under the hood of the RAV4 has plenty of power to propel it around town with ease. It efficiently gets up to speed when you need to merge on the highway and passes slower cars with confidence. The RAV4 provides a smooth ride over most roads and feels agile and firmly connected to the road even when you take it over winding country roads. The TRD Off-Road's extra ground clearance and all-terrain tires make it capable of tackling some rough terrain.
Interior
Inside, there is room for five and a spacious cargo area behind the rear seats, with over 37 cubic feet of storage space. Folding the rear seats down opens this up to 69.8 cubic feet. Cloth upholstery comes standard, along with manually adjustable front seats, and if you bump up to the XLE, you'll get a power-adjustable driver's seat. The XLE Premium adds simulated leather upholstery, and the upscale Limited adds heated front seats.
A 7-inch touch screen comes in the base LE, which also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Starting with the Adventure, you'll get an 8-inch touch screen, and if you bump up to the Limited, it adds navigation and an upgraded 11-speaker JBL stereo system.
Safety Features
All 2021 RAV4 models come with a rearview camera and the Safety Sense 2.0 suite of active safety systems. This group includes forward-collision alert with a mitigation system that applies the brakes in emergency situations, adaptive cruise control, and a lane-keep system with steering corrections to keep you in your lane. It also has automatic high beam headlights and a traffic sign reader. A blind-spot monitor is an added feature in the XLE. This trim, along with the models above it, also has rear cross-traffic alert and both front and rear parking sensors.
