2021 Toyota Land Cruiser
The Toyota Land Cruiser is the perfect combination of rugged off-road adventurer and luxury cruiser. This large SUV has lots of room inside, it is capable of tackling rough terrain, and it has a wide selection of standard and optional upscale features. The 2021 model carries over with just a few changes, including an optional third row for the Heritage Edition and the regular trim now has two new paint colors. Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Land Cruiser comes as either the standard model or the Heritage Edition. The standard model has 18-inch silver alloy wheels, a sunroof, roof rails, skid plates, automatic LED headlights, automatic wipers, running boards, and it comes with power-folding and auto-dimming side mirrors. The Heritage Edition has a unique front grille, bronze-colored alloy BBS wheels, and Toyota Land Cruiser badging. The Heritage Edition also adds darkened exterior trim elements, and it removes the running boards to give it more off-road clearance.
Engine (Power)
Both of the Land Cruiser models have the same powertrain. The 5.7-liter V-8 generates 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. It comes with a full-time four-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The strong V-8 engine easily powers the Land Cruiser around town and effortlessly gets it up to highway speed. Acceleration is quick and responsive, with a zero to 60 mpg time of 6.7 seconds. When equipped, this SUV can tow up to 8,100 pounds.
The on-road driving dynamics are good with a responsive steering system and strong brakes to give the driver confidence over any road. The Land Cruiser is ultimately an off-road vehicle and has a suspension that articulates to get you over rocks and through ditches when you want to take it on an adventure, and the four-wheel-drive system keeps a good grip on or off the road.
Interior
The standard Land Cruiser has three rows of seats and room for eight. The Heritage Edition comes with two rows and space for five, but you can now opt for a third row if you want extra seating. Leather upholstery comes standard in this upscale SUV, and you also get heated and ventilated front seats in both models, a heated steering wheel, and heated second-row seats.
A 9-inch touch screen comes in both Land Cruisers, and you also get the Entune infotainment system, Bluetooth, HD radio, a USB port, and satellite radio. A wireless smartphone charger also comes standard, along with navigation and voice controls. A rear-seat entertainment system is an optional add-on. It has two 11.6-inch display screens, HDMI input, and wireless headphones.
Safety Features
The Land Cruiser comes with a rearview camera, stability control, and the Safety Sense P suite of advanced driver aids. This group includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic braking, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. A blind-spot monitor also comes standard, and it has rear cross-traffic alert. The Toyota Safety Connect telematics system provides automatic crash notification in the event of an accident.
