Trim Levels (Exterior)
You can choose from six trim levels of the 2021 Toyota Highlander. The base trim on this year's release is the L, which is followed by the LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum. The L trim offers 18-inch alloy wheels, body-colored bumpers, black rub strips, and a black grille with metal accents. Heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators are standard features. The LE and XLE trims include the same exterior features as the L.
You will start to notice some visual exterior changes once you reach the middle-tiered XSE. It features larger 20-inch wheels as well as metal inserts in the front bumper. The XSE trim also includes 165-pound capacity roof rails and chrome-tipped exhaust pipes. The Limited trim is similar in most ways to the XSE, but it features a chrome surround around the grille. This year, the Platinum trim serves as the top option for the Highlander. It features black rub strips in the front and metal-look strips in the back.
Engine (Power)
Only one engine is available on the 2021 Toyota Highlander. It's a V-6 engine with an output of 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
The 2021 Highlander features a number of impressive performance features. Regardless of the trim level, this year's model can tow up to 5,000 pounds, which is in the upper tier of capability among SUVs.
