Trim Levels

There are now three different trim levels available for the C-HR. The new entry-level LE comes with 17-inch steel wheels, while a step up to the XLE gets you 18-inch alloy wheels, auto-folding side mirrors, and puddle lights. The new top-level Limited trim comes with rain-sensing windshield wipers, chrome window accents, fog lights, heated side mirrors, and black B-pillars. Toyota also offers a contrasting white or black roof for the top two trims.

Engine

There is one powertrain for all the C-HR models: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 144 horsepower and 139 pound-feet of torque. Toyota pairs it with a continuously variable transmission that works much like an automatic, and it comes with a front-wheel-drive system. There is even a Sport mode if you want to change how the CVT steps up through the gears.

Performance

The C-HR is fuel-efficient, but that's not the only reason why it's excellent for city driving. Its small size and easy handling makes parking in tight spaces a breeze, and drivers will appreciate the responsive throttle that launches the C-HR quickly. The weighted steering system provides good feedback when you head around a corner, and the suspension works to eat up bumps in the road and provide a smooth ride. This little SUV also has limited body roll around corners, making it a fun ride on back roads.

Interior

Inside, the C-HR has a comfortable cabin with supportive seats up front and plenty of headroom for both front and rear seat passengers. Behind the second row, you'll find 19 cubic feet of cargo space, and this opens up to over 36 cubic feet when you fold the rear seats down. These seats also have a 60/40 split, and they fold down flat to make it easy to adjust the cargo and passenger space. The high-end Limited adds either brown or black leather seats, seat back pockets, power lumbar support, and heated front seats. For technology, an 8-inch touch screen display comes standard, even in the new entry-level LE trim. The 2019 C-HR also comes with two new standard features: Apple CarPlay compatibility and the latest version of Toyota's Entune 3.0 infotainment system. If you want to bump up to the Limited, it has the Entune 3.0 Premium system.

Safety Features

Toyota's Safety Sense P suite of safety systems comes standard on all C-HR models. This comes with a pre-collision warning system, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, and adaptive cruise control. It also includes a lane departure warning system. The top-of-the-line Limited model adds blind-spot monitors, and all models have anti-lock brakes, driveline traction control, and a total of 10 air bags.
