Trim Levels
The new 86 boasts the classic sports-car look, featuring a long hood and short rear deck. Three trims are offered: the base 86, GT, and TRD Special Edition. With the base trim, you can expect 17-inch alloy wheels, LED low- and high-beam headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED rear combination lights, color-keyed power mirrors, an "86" front-fender badge, a dual chrome-tipped exhaust, a rear bumper with an aerodynamic lower diffuser, and front fender-mounted vortex generators. The GT trim offers rear LED fog lights, power-adjustable and heated mirrors, and an aerodynamic underbody panel, and the TRD Special Edition trim, 18-inch alloy wheels, a color-keyed rear spoiler, a TRD performance exhaust, high-performance tires, and TRD tricolor side-body graphics. Exciting exterior colors to choose from include Neptune, Ablaze, Oceanic, Raven, and Asphalt.
Engine
There is only one engine featured with the new 86: a 2.0-liter powerplant which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This combination produces 205 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. You can, however, opt for an automatic transmission. This engine is available in rear-wheel drive exclusively.
Performance
The 86 will give you precise steering and playful handling. Its multi-link rear suspension and front and rear stabilizer bars work together to give you better grip and enhanced performance around those sharp corners. The body of the 86 has also been designed to be as light as possible for an overall superior performance and better efficiency. If you opt for the automatic transmission system, your 86 will be equipped with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, which will allow you to change gears without having to take your hands off the wheel.
Interior
The cabin of the 86 is spacious for its class and features quality materials. It also offers a folding rear seat, as well as a trunk that can hold a decent amount of items. With the base trim, you will get a 7-inch infotainment system with eight speakers, a USB port, Bluetooth, voice recognition, and HD radio. The trim also features an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio controls, and cruise control. With the GT trim, you can expect dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio and MID controls, a leather gear shift with silver contrast stitching, leather/suede upholstery, and heated front seats. The TRD Special Edition boasts a red and black leather-trimmed steering wheel with audio and MID controls, a leather gear shift with red contrast stitching, red and black sport front bucket seats, and red seatbelts.
Safety Features
All trims come equipped with Toyota's Star Safety System, which includes vehicle stability control, traction control, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, and an anti-lock brake system. Other safety features include hill-start assist, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
