Trim Levels
The RAV4 comes in six different trim levels. The base model LE has 17-inch steel wheels and roof rails along with halogen headlights. The XLE comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, a power tilt-and-slide moon roof, and integrated fog lights. Bump up to the SE for 18-inch Sport alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. The Limited comes with 18-inch SuperChrome alloy wheels and heated side mirrors. The top-level Platinum trim adds a hands-free liftgate and full-body color. There is also the new Adventure trim, with 18-inch black alloy wheels, larger overfender flares, and integrated fog lights with black accents.
Engine
The gas-powered RAV4 models come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 176 horsepower. Toyota pairs this with a six-speed automatic transmission, and they come standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is an available option. The RAV4 is also available with a hybrid powertrain. This features a 2.5-liter gas engine along with a 50-kW electric motor for a combined horsepower of 176.
Performance
This compact SUV offers a comfortable driving experience and a quiet ride. It is fuel-efficient, with the lower trim gas-powered models getting 26 mpg combined. This translates to 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway with front-wheel drive. The hybrid model comes in at 32 mpg combined, with 30 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
Interior
The RAV4's cabin is comfortable and upscale. The front seats have a good amount of support, and the rear-seat passengers can enjoy plenty of headroom and legroom. In the back, there are 38.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats up, and when they fold down, it opens up to reveal 73.4 cubic feet of space. There is also a low-load floor in the back to make getting cargo in and out easy. All the models come with Bluetooth, and the entry-level models feature a 6.1-inch touch-screen display and the Entune infotainment system. Upgrade to the Limited trim for a 7-inch touch-screen display and integrated navigation, along with a JBL sound system.
Safety Features
All the trims come standard with the Safety Sense-P package of advanced safety systems. This includes a precollision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, and automatic high beams. It also comes with dynamic radar cruise control and automatic high beams. All the models also come with a rearview camera, and depending on the trim, you can add a 360-degree surround-view birds-eye camera. Blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert are also available as options.
