Trim Levels
The new Camry sits lower and wider, and it has a sleeker look. It comes in five different trim levels starting with the base level L. This comes with 16-inch steel wheels and LED headlights, and if you bump up to the LE you'll get 17-inch alloy wheels. The SE adds a sport-tuned suspension and 18-inch wheels along with an upgraded steering system. Both the XLE and the XSE add comfort and convenience features to the LE and SE including larger wheels and upgraded technology.
Engine
The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The XSE models get this same engine but it produces 206 horsepower and 186 lb-feet of torque. Both the XLE and the XSE models offer the option for a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which produces 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Both of these engines pair up with a new eight-speed automatic transmission, and they are all front wheel drive.
Performance
The upgraded engine and new transmission make the 2018 Camry perform better and get better fuel economy. You can expect to get 28 miles per gallon in the city and 39 mpg on the highway with the four-cylinder, and the V-6 will get 22 miles per gallon in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. The driving experience in the 2018 is also an improvement over previous models. The lower, wider stance keeps it firmly connected to the ground, and the responsive steering makes it more composed around tight corners.
Interior
There is plenty of space for all five passengers in the Camry's cabin. The seats sit lower, but visibility is still excellent. Toyota used soft-touch materials throughout for an upscale feel, and on the dashboard, the knobs and buttons are easy to access and easy to use. The lower trims come with a 7.1-inch touch screen, and the higher trims upgrade this to an 8-inch screen along with wireless smartphone charging and a better stereo system. All the models come with Toyota's Entune infotainment system that links to your smartphone, and they come with voice controls along with Siri Eyes Free.
Safety Features
All the Camry models now come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense-P suite of safety features. This bundle includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with steering assist, and adaptive cruise control. It also comes with automatic high beams. Other safety features include a rearview camera, and depending on the trim you can get blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, and a head-up display along with full-speed adaptive cruise control.
