With seating for up to five passengers, the 2017 Toyota Prius is a hatchback with four doors that comes in six trims. The Prius Two is the base trim. It features LED running lights and headlights, heated mirrors, and 15-inch alloy wheels. Next in the lineup, the Prius Two Eco has fuel-saving features like special tires with extraordinarily low rolling resistance, lightweight components, and two-tone wheel covers.When you move up to the Three trim, you get an abundance of interior perks such as wireless device charging and a premium infotainment system accessible through a 7-inch touch screen. Engine
As a hybrid, the 2017 has a powertrain that consists of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors. Connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the front wheels run on 121 horsepower. During all but heavy braking, one of the Prius' motors functions as a generator that feeds power to the hybrid battery.
Performance
As a hybrid with a CVT, the newest Prius gets up to 50 miles per gallon on the open road and 54 mpg on city streets. The EPA's combined fuel efficiency rating is 52 mpg. If you want the best fuel economy, check out the Prius Two Eco. Because of its light weight and other features, the Prius Two Eco offers a combined rating of 56 mpg. If you're interested in acceleration, the Prius only needs 9.8 seconds to zip from zero to 60 miles per hour. With its quiet cabin and confident handling, the Prius has a pleasant ride quality.
Interior
Compared to earlier Prius models, the 2017 hatchback has a more traditional dash. The interior has a more upscale look thanks to higher-quality materials. Upholstery is noteworthy across all trims, creating comfortable seats for passengers. All Prius hatchbacks come with voice recognition through Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, and a touch screen, though size varies depending on the trim.
